One warm summer morning while driving in my car, I wondered, “What would it sound like to listen in on a metaphysical conversation between a cricket and a grasshopper?”
Cricket: Why are we here? Grasshopper: Because you choose to be here. Cricket: What do you mean “because I choose to be here?” Grasshopper: You choose to be here because the only moment is the present moment. There is no past, no future; there is only now. Everything else is an illusion. Cricket: What happens when we die? Grasshopper: What do you mean? Cricket: You know, when I’m dead and no longer alive. Grasshopper: Nothing truly dies. It simply changes form. Your physical body will decompose and turn into dirt which nurtures the plants which nurture the insects and animals. This cycle goes on and on. It is important for you to know that You are not your physical body. Cricket: What do you mean? Grasshopper: You are Spirit-another form of energy. From the perspective of time as this incarnation experiences life, this Spirit is all you have been, all you are now and all you ever will be. It is eternal. When the time comes for your physical body to return to the Earth, your Spirit will return to Its Creator. So you see, nothing really dies, it simply changes form. Cricket: What is Spirit? Grasshopper: Spirit is the All-that-is. It is the Creator of all things and at the same time It is all things. Spirit is eternal, omniscient, omnipotent energy. Without Spirit there is nothing. Cricket: Are you Spirit? Grasshopper: I am. You are. We are all One.
