Folks that find me for coaching tend to feel like life is asking one thing of them and their innermost self is asking something different. There is a sense of not quite fitting in with the status quo; a sense of being out of place. It feels as though one is in a state of transition from something known to something unknown, yet deeply familiar.
Society offers us comfort and stability via certain rules and ways of being. When your internal compass is spinning wildly and you don't know where to go but you do know the path society is offering is not your path, it's time for us to talk. It's time to allow Spirit to speak a bit louder and with more clarity. It's time to claim your sovereign power and follow your inner knowing. I can help you access this part of yourself and begin to allow it to move forward in guiding your life.
All humans are in the process of evolving. To what, I'm not totally sure. Perhaps it is a more heart-centered existence where Love and connection are most important. This journey is different for each of us because we each have our own unique set of life experiences. I offer a space of unconditional love and acceptance that helps you to connect with your higher self. By helping you to shed old beliefs and ways of being that no longer feel supportive, you will find a deep sense of peace and contentment.
In the end, coaching is whatever you think it is: a friend to talk to, an objective 3rd party, a witness to your humanity. What we call it is not as important as engaging in the actual work. The work is to understand yourself. The work is to understand your motivations and why you think and do the things you think and do; the work is to align all of the versions of you into a singular, focused, Conscious being. Please know, this work may never be complete in this lifetime; however, all great journeys begin with the first step! Begin your work!

Chris McLaren is a Certified Enneagram Instructor from the School of Conscious Living, Cincinnati, OH. The word Enneagram derives from two Greek words, "ennea" (nine) and "gram" (drawing or figure) and refers to the nine points on the Enneagram diagram. The Enneagram is a personality typing system that shows nine ways of seeing and experiencing the world. It helps us to better understand the relationship between personality and psychological growth. By helping to explain our underlying motivations, strengths and weaknesses, this tool helps us to better understand ourselves and better relate to others. As we gain self-understanding and learn to see our habits of thinking, feeling and behaving, we are better able to make empowering conscious choices.
My personal use of the Enneagram has been deeply transformational. It allows me insight into myself; why I do and think the things I do and think. Through application of this knowledge, I feel I am more compassionate toward myself and others. It helps me to be in the present moment more frequently. When life throws its curve balls, the Enneagram provides a framework of tools that helps me more effectively handle the situation.
If you do not know your type, we will begin with a typing session. I will ask you a series of questions that takes 60-90 minutes. If you know your type, we can dive right in. While I prefer to hold typing sessions in person, there is an opportunity to hold this via video conference.

Health & Lifestyle-(Ayurveda & 5 Elements)
I draw heavily from Ayurveda and the 5 Elements theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine when considering a healthy lifestyle. Ayurveda originated in India. The 5 Elements comes to us from China. Both systems are many thousands of years old and provide tools to help us better understand the mind/body/spirit connection. As part of my yoga certification training (RYT200), I received training as an Ayurvedic health consultant. Through my qigong studies, I learned about the 5 Elements theory. I have successfully incorporated parts of these systems into my personal health routine. I say 'parts' because some concepts worked for me and others did not. I encourage you to explore and experiment until you find what works for you.
Are you happy with your present state of health? If not, learning to utilize selected tools from both of these disciplines can help you on your journey toward optimal health. In my personal experience, I have gradually applied these concepts to my own health over the last 20 years with some of the bigger changes taking place within the last 6 years. I essentially dropped over 50 lbs of excess weight. I am much more aware about not only what I eat but how the food is grown and processed. I am able to choose food that is nourishing to my body rather than food laden with fat, chemicals and other unhealthy ingredients. An important concept is that food is medicine. What we put into our body either uplifts and supports or depletes and suppresses its functions. When you are sick and tired of feeling sick and tired, the time is ripe for change. As a health & lifestyle coach, I can help you navigate the various choices by making suggestions that may save you a lot of time and money thus helping you to feel better quicker.
Our initial session will last about 2 hours as we discuss your current state of health, including your past and present challenges. We will talk about your current lifestyle as it pertains to your overall systemic health. We may even delve into your emotional state of being because everything is related. In my opinion, this is one of the shortcomings of modern medicine. Most traditional doctors are trained to treat the symptoms...there's a pill for that. When you begin to consider your health from a holistic point of view, you are in control and better able to make positive changes that last.
Depending on your current state of health, we will likely need to meet several times as you learn what works for your body. This is not a quick fix. It will take time and effort to shift unhealthy habits into healthy ones. In doing so, you may be surprised to learn about the strong relationship between physical health, emotional health and mental health. They are all interrelated.
For example, when I feel stressed, I like to eat. I am typically drawn to less-than-healthy choices preferring anything sugary and sweet. Knowing this about myself, I can be prepared for those stress-induced cravings. I have to admit, I don't always make the healthy choice. I am at least prepared and can consciously choose the candy or donuts!
Knowing what types of food are healthy for your body type is vitally important. Should you eat your veggies raw, blanched or fully cooked? Do you feel bloated after eating certain foods? Maybe you feel weighed down or sluggish after eating. When you are able to choose the most nourishing foods for your body, you will feel better. Your body will respond by feeling lighter and having more energy. Over time, this will lead to overall improved health and well-being.
